Laurence Thompson joined the Mustangs as Assistant Director of Public Relations in June 2024. He is the primary contact for the volleyball and women's tennis programs.
Thompson came to the Hilltop after spending two years at Lipscomb University. He joined Lipscomb in November of 2022 as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, working with the women's basketball, volleyball, baseball programs.
While in Nashville, he covered the baseball program during its 2023 ASUN regular season and tournament championship, in which they earned the program's third NCAA regional appearance. He was also the main contact for the women's basketball team, which, during the 2022-23 season, tied the program record for wins and won the most regular-season games in program history.Â
Prior to working at Lipscomb, Thompson spent two years as the first ever sports information graduate assistant at Columbia International University, where he served as the primary contact for the men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, indoor/outdoor track and field, and softball programs and assisted in coordinating game management duties for all other athletic events. During that time, he earned his master's of business administration.Â
Prior to working at CIU, the Columbia, S.C. native attended the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications.Â
