Matthew Adams came to SMU in the Fall of 2025 as the Head Athletic Trainer for Men's & Women's Tennis.
Adams arrived on the Hilltop after spending last season at the University of North Florida. For the last 4 years, he served as the Athletic Trainer for Women's Basketball and Golf for the Ospreys. Prior to that, he was an athletic training intern at Indiana University (2021) where he worked with the football team. Adams was a graduate assistant in the Sports Medicine department at Indiana University (2019-21), working as the Head Athletic Trainer for Edgewood High School and Middle School. Adams covered all varsity sports for the two schools while completing his Post-Professional Master's Degree at Indiana.
Adams earned his Master of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University in 2021 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Anderson University in 2019.Â
Adams is a licensed Athletic Trainer, a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and American Red Cross CPR/AED certified as a professional rescuer and health care provider. In addition, Adams is also certified in Integrative Dry Needling (IDN).
