Satchel Ball is in his first season as a graduate assistant with SMU’s Men’s Basketball.
Ball comes from St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he was the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach in 2025-26. His responsibilities included high school and AAU recruiting, player development and film breakdown. In the summer of 2026, he was an AAU Head Coach for Team Loaded U16.
He started coaching as a Summer League Coach for North Point High School (Md.) from 2019-2024, and was the Freshman Head Coach (13-3) and a Varsity Assistant Coach for the 2024-25 season. He developed scouting reports and coached three players to the All-County team.
He has also served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Little Eagles Basketball Camp (2019-26) and as an individual skills trainer and player development coach since 2020.
He competed as a student-athlete at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, where he completed a B.A in Sociology in 2024. In his tenure with the Raiders, the men’s basketball team claimed the 2022-23 PSAC East regular-season championship.
