SMU Athletics

Spencer Jones joined SMU Athletics as Director of MustangVision in July 2016.

Jones will oversee the video operations for all of SMU Athletics including video features,web streaming and video board operations for Moody Coliseum and Ford Stadium. 

Prior to coming to SMU, Jones was the Director of the Roadrunners Sports Network for University of Texas at San Antonio. During his 8 year tenure at UTSA he was the primary athletics video and webcast producer/director for all of UTSA's 17 sports. Jones helped create a high standard of quality, with limited resources, for all videos and webcasts produced for UTSA Athletics. He has mentored many students who are now currently working in broadcast television around the country.

He was instrumental in helping produce UTSA Football: The Birth of a Program, a Fox Sports Southwest reality program chronicling the start of UTSA's inaugural football season in 2011 which continues today as UTSA Football Insider. He was able to oversee the transition of UTSA Athletics video needs from Southland Conference to the Western Athletic Conference and now UTSA's current home in Conference USA. 

Jones has also worked in various capacities with the major sports networks as a freelancer. 

Jones was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and earned his bachelor's degree in Communication Public Relations and a minor in Film from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
