Kevin Lock joined SMU as a member of the compliance staff in 2018 and was promoted to Director in July 2022.
Lock came to SMU after serving as a compliance intern with University of Cincinnati. As a member of this staff, he was in charge of researching and providing rules interpretations for compliance and coaching staffs using LSDBi. He also utilized Jump Forward to review coach’s recruiting activities, edit squad lists, approve complimentary ticket requests, and monitor playing and practice seasons. His duties also included reviewing high school transcripts to create academic plans for prospective student-athletes to become eligible.
In 2017, Lock was a member of the compliance staff at Temple University. He was in charge of using the ACS Recruiting Database to monitor current and prospective student-athletes. His duties also included monitoring prospective student-athletes at football games to ensure they were in compliance of their recruiting visit and maintain amateurism.
Also in 2017, Lock was a men’s basketball marketing intern at Temple University. He was the primary intern for marketing and game presentation at all home games. He also utilized Photoshop in creating content for student marketing campaigns to generate awareness and interest in competitions.
From 2015-17, Lock was a student worker in the communications department at Temple University. Here his duties included providing media members with necessary credentials and statistics at basketball and football games. He also served as the liaison between media members and Temple University.
Lock completed his bachelor’s degree in sport and recreation management with a general business minor from Temple University in 2018.
Lock is originally from Malvern, Pennsylvania.
