Mark Daus serves as Senior Associate A.D. for Business Operations. He returned to the Hilltop as Associate A.D. for Resource Management in February 2025. Daus, who served as SMU’s Assistant A.D. for Business & Finance from 2021-2024, returned after a stint as Vice President of Finance for the Houston Dynamo FC.
With the Dynamo, Daus managed the finance team, maintaining an accurate analysis of budgets, forecasts, and financials trends. His team provided monthly financial reports, including departmental budget-to-actual analysis as well as other tasks.
In this newly-created role, Daus will manage and oversee the administration of all internal functions associated with the House Settlement/Revenue Sharing and its impact on SMU Athletics, focusing on the planning, evaluation, tracking and distribution of rev share payments to student-athletes. He will work with the Office of Business & Finance to ensure all campus and NCAA reporting guidelines are followed.
Daus, a 2013 graduate of Santa Clara, spent four years in collegiate athletics at the University of California at Berkeley. While there, he worked as an analyst in budget and reporting before advancing to the role of Senior Financial Analyst. His duties included management of a $105 million annual budget to support 30 varsity sports programs and 20 administrative units.
He oversaw the department’s budget forecasting, conducting statistical analysis, creating comparative reports and historical summaries to forecast the operating budget throughout the fiscal year. He also managed revenue review and classification, and prepared and reconciled annual NCAA and EADA audits for the athletics department.
A native of Plano, Texas, Daus returned to the DFW metroplex to join Stryker Corporation in Flower Mound as a lead analyst for financial planning and reporting in April 2021. His duties at Stryker included the establishment and documentation of standardized financial planning and reporting processes. He set budget and planning baselines to detect validity using analysis and knowledge of local businesses. Additionally, he helped build and implement key capabilities in financial planning and reporting.
His time in California included working as a consultant at Boost Healthcare Consulting in Alameda as an Associate Consultant before being promoted to Senior Consultant. He produced frequent reports to highlight financial margins and operational efficiencies while recommending solutions to improve bottom lines. He developed a five-year financial plan for the company’s growth and direction while tracking financial contributions within the plan. He also trained new hires and performed comprehensive payment compliance audits.
Daus graduated from the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business with a degree in finance. He was a team captain on the men’s soccer team. The defender earned All-West Coast Conference First-Team honors in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Daus was also named to the WCC all-freshman team in 2010.
