Charleston, Ill. -- The fifth-ranked SMU men's soccer team won its ninth straight game with a 4-0 blanking of Eastern Illinois Friday afternoon in Charleston, Ill. The Mustangs improve to 10-1-1 (3-0 MVC) while Eastern Illinois drops to 6-6 (2-1 MVC).
Senior midfielder Diego Walsh (Miami, Fla.) scored two goals and added one assist to lead the Mustangs. Freshman Duke Hashimoto recorded his third goal of the season while sophomore Ryan Latham closed out SMU's scoring at the 78:34 mark. SMU goalkeeper T.J. Tomasso played a solid 84 minutes, making two saves while senior goalkeeper Ramez Shamieh closed out the contest for the remainder of the game.
On Sunday, the Mustangs and 10th-ranked Bradley will do battle in Peoria, Ill., beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon.
