SMU Opens Practice on Saturday

The SMU men's basketball team opens practice on Saturday, October 16, in Moody Coliseum, at 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
The Mustangs are coming off a 15-15 overall record despite being one of the youngest teams in the nation a year ago. SMU, which has averaged more than 16 wins the past three seasons, advanced to the 1999 Qwest WAC Tournament semifinals for the first time last season. The Mustangs return the 1999 Western Athletic Conference Mountain Division Player of the Year Jeryl Sasser, a Dallas native, as well as 12 lettermen and all five starters. SMU, picked to finish fourth in its conference, was one of only three teams in the league to garner first place votes in the 1999-2000 WAC preseason media poll (Fresno State and Tulsa were the others).
