Davis Earns Player of the Week

SMU junior forward Willie Davis earned Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors after scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in SMU's season-opening 110-69 victory over Hardin-Simmons Saturday night.
Davis, from Dallas Lincoln High School, recorded his eighth career double-double vs. the Cowboys. He also had six steals (sixth all-time in a game at SMU), three assists, one blocked shot and was 10-for-14 from the field. Seven of his 10 field goals against Hardin-Simmons were dunks.
This is the second time in Davis' career he has earned the WAC Player of the Week award. Last season, he earned the award after scoring 25 points and a career-best 14 rebounds in a 94-92 win at TCU.
SMU (1-0) returns to action Tuesday, November 23, vs. Lamar. Tip-off at SMU's Moody Coliseum is set for 7:35 PM.
