SMU Sweeps WAC Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors

SMU swimmers Bart Wickard and Lotta Wanberg have been named WAC Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances at last weekend's Texas-Invitational.
Wickard, a junior from Fort Wayne, Ind., led a Mustang sweep in the 400-meter individual medley with a NCAA Championship automatic qualifying time of 4:15.83. He also added a victory in the 200-meter IM (2:00.12) and was part of the fifth-place 400-medley relay team that swam a NCAA consideration time of 3:41.03.
Wanberg, a native of Malmo, Sweden, swam automatic NCAA qualifying times in two events last week at the U.S. Open and Texas Invitational. At the Open, Dec. 2, her finals time of 4:15.55 in the long course 400-meter free qualified her for the 500-yard freestyle at the NCAA Championships. The following day at the Texas Invitiational, Wanberg qualified for the 200-freestyle with a short course meters time of 1:59.39 - finishing fourth. She also swam consideration times for the 1650-freestyle (16:43.45) and 100-freestyle (56.50).
