Mustangs Host Houston Cougars Sunday Afternoon

The SMU men's basketball team will play its final home game of 2000 when it hosts the Houston Cougars at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Two promotions will offer fans wishing to attend the game an opportunity for free admission to Moody Coliseum.
Fans bringing a winter coat or new and unwrapped toy to the SMU ticket office will receive two complimentary tickets. Additionally, fans can log onto www.smumustangs.com and print a coupon for a two-for-one admission to Sunday's game.
The Ponies are off to a 5-1 start to the season and have earned top-25 votes in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches and Associated Press polls four straight weeks. Junior G Damon Hancock, who leads SMU with 19.2 points and 4.0 assists per game, started the season with three-straight 20-point games and has not scored less than 17 points through the first six.
All-American candidates Jeryl Sasser and Willie Davis are averaging 16.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 15.8 points, 8.7 rebounds per game respectively in 2000-01, and rank in the top 15 among the nation's active players in career double-doubles.
Sunday's game will be the Mustangs' final tune-up before travelling to Puerto Rico for the San Juan Shootout Dec. 20-22. SMU will play tournament host Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Wednesday at 1 p.m., and either Virginia Commonwealth or Evansville at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. Thursday. The Mustangs will then face Kent State, Northwestern, Iona or Nebraska Friday. Allen Stone and Michael Ziegler will call all of the action on KSKY AM-660.
SMU will wrap up its non-conference schedule at the Touchstone Energy All-College Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla., Dec. 29-30. The Mustangs face UT-Pan American Friday at 6 p.m. and either No. 16 Oklahoma or Oral Roberts on Saturday.
