SMU Hoopsters Top All-Stars

DALLAS(SMU) -- The SMU Men's Basketball team won its exhibition opener on Saturday night as the Mustangs topped the EA Sports All-Stars, 94-85, in Moody Coliseum.
Led by Damon Hancock and Quinton Ross, the Mustangs used a balanced attack to hand the All-Stars the biggest loss of their tour. Hancock led all scorers with 24 points, while Ross added 22.
Sophomore Kris Lowe had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists, while junior post Nigel Smith had seven points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Several Mustang newcomers had strong outings, including junior college transfer Billy Pharis, who recorded 10 points and five rebounds and freshman Eric Castro, who had a game-high seven boards.
Up next for the Ponies is Czech Select, who visits Moody Coliseum on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7:35 p.m. in SMU's final preseason tune-up.
