SMU Faces UTEP

DALLAS (SMU) -- After picking up a win in their WAC opener, the SMU Mustangs look to move to 2-0 in conference play when they face the UTEP Miners in a Sunday afternoon match-up on Dec. 30 at 4:30 p.m at Moody Coliseum.
SMU was a 80-67 winner over Boise State on Friday night, while UTEP fell at Louisiana Tech, 77-63.
With a win, SMU would open conference play with a 2-0 mark for the third straight season.
SMU and UTEP have met 16 times on the hardwood, with the two schools splitting the all-time series 8-8.
UTEP won the first five match-ups between 1966 and 1976, but SMU has dominated the series of late, winning five of the last seven games between the Mustangs and Miners.
SMU Head Coach Mike Dement is 7-3 versus UTEP and has won seven of his last nine games against Texas-El Paso.
