SMU Tops North Texas

DENTON, Texas (SMU) -- Led by senior Damon Hancock's career-high 30 points, the SMU men's basketball team topped North Texas, 74-66, on Tuesday, Dec, 4, at the Super Pit in Denton.
Hancock was sensational in the game, scoring big bucket after big bucket en route a 9-of-15 night from the floor, including a 3-of-5 showing from beyond the arc.
"Damon is a senior and we expect that kind of play from our veterans," said SMU Head Coach Mike Dement. "He's been a clutch player for us and he just stepped up again tonight."
Senior Mike Niemi also had a big game with nine points and six rebounds, while freshman Justin Isham set a career high with 11 points.
With the win, SMU moves to 4-3, while UNT falls to 1-4. Up next for SMU is SEC power Tennessee, who visits Moody Coliseum on Thursday, Dec. 6 for a 7:35 p.m. showdown.
