Stanford, Calif. -- Sophomore Youssoupha Sarr (Dakar, Senegal) claimed first place after running a time of 47.89 in the 400 meters at the Cardinal Qualifier Sunday in Stanford. Other Mustang runners include: junior Adam Merritt with a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:51.52; Dalibor Balgac placed sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:44.56 while teammate Graham Davidson took 10th with a time of 3:49.77.

The SMU men's and women's track and field squads will compete in the 2001 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships beginning Friday, May 18 and running through the weekend. This year's meet will be held at Fresno State.
