Mustangs Hold First Hoops Scrimmage

Dallas, Texas - SMU men's basketball coach Mike Dement put his squad through its first intra-squad scrimmage of the season on Saturday morning at Moody Coliseum as the Mustangs worked out for 90 minutes.
"We had a good practice," said Dement. "I was encouraged by several things I saw but I know we have a lot to work on as well."
Kris Lowe led the Mustangs with 25 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. He also hit 3-of-4 from three-point range and added a scrimmage-high tying seven rebounds. Quinton Ross added 24 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Five other players scored in double figures: Eric Castro (19), Michael Dement (19), Patrick Simpson (16), Bryan Hopkins (15) and Justin Isham (13). Isham had 10 assists while Hopkins added nine assists and six steals. Simpson matched Lowe with seven rebounds.
SMU opens its exhibition schedule next Saturday in Moody against Sport Tours at 7:05 p.m. The Mustangs tip-off the regular season at home on Sunday, Nov. 24 against TCU at 5:05 p.m.
