Ponies Fall At Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas - Despite 28 points from preseason WAC Player of the Year Quinton Ross, SMU could not overcome the Texas Tech Red Raiders and fell 77-59 at the United Spirit Arena.
SMU trailed by 13 at halftime, 39-26, but cut the lead to seven at 51-44 on a Brian Miller three-pointer with 10:20 left in the game. Tech responded with seven straight points, however, to extend their lead to 58-44 and the Mustangs never again threatened.
Rebounding was the story of the game, as Tech outboarded the Ponies, 46-26. On a bright note, Miller added a career-high 12 in the loss.
Up next for the Mustangs are the 1-0 North Texas Mean Green, who visit Moody for a 7 p.m. showdown on Friday, Nov. 29.
