Families Divided As Ponies Host North Texas
Nov 27 | Men's Basketball
DALLAS (SMU) - Playing their third game in five days, the SMU Mustangs look to get back into the win column when they face North Texas and All-America guard Chris Davis in a 7:05 p.m. matchup on Friday, Nov. 29, at Moody Coliseum.
The game will feature matchups that should make Thanksgiving dinner at a pair houses somewhat tense. Twins Bryan and Ryan Hopkins will suit up for the Ponies, while brother Leonard Hopkins will wear the Mean Green uniform. In addition, SMU Director of Ticket Sales Brett Barnett's loyalties will be tested as his son Justin plays for UNT.
SMU and North Texas have a long history on the hardwood, dating back to the 1916-17 season, the Mustangs? first year of hoops. The Ponies hold a convincing 33-19 series edge, including a hard-fought 74-66 win in the Super Pit a year ago. SMU has had great success against the Mean Green over the past 20 years, winning eight of the 10 meetings since the 1984-85 season. UNT?s last win in Dallas came over 25 years ago, a 96-88 win on Jan. 20, 1976.
