SMU Falls At Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM (SMU) -- The SMU Mustangs shot just 29 percent in the first half and fell, 73-49, to host Wake Forest on Sunday, Dec. 15, to slip to 2-3 on the season.
SMU was 7-of-24 from the floor and just 1-of-10 from three-point range in the opening stanza to fall behind 43-21 at the break and never recovered as the Demon Deacons held on to up their record to 4-0. With the win, Wake improved 90-8 all-time against non-conference foes in Joel Coliseum.
The Mustangs continued their rebounding struggles away from Moody Coliseum, getting outboarded, 48-26.
Quinton Ross again led SMU with 15 points, while Voc Atkins added six points and seven boards.
Up next for SMU is a trip to Boone, N.C., where the 'Stangs will face Appalachian State on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. CST.
