DALLAS (SMU) -- After snapping a three-game losing streak with a win over old Southwest Conference foe Baylor, SMU travels west to Las Vegas for the Jim Thorpe Classic to take on the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs and UNLV Runnin? Rebels.
The SMU hoopsters take on Gardner-Webb in the Classic opener on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 7:35 p.m. CST and then tackle the host Runnin' Rebels of UNLV in the challenge finale on Dec. 29 at 10:05 p.m. CST.
SMU and Gardner-Webb have never met on the hardwood, but the Ponies are 8-1 all-time against teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Mustangs and Runnin? Rebels briefly shared a stint in the WAC, with SMU winning three matchups in the 1998-99 season, including two in Las Vegas, to go 3-1 all-time against UNLV.
