Mustangs in 12th Entering Saturday at NCAA Regional

Delayed by Heavy thunderstorms moved through the Little Rock area Friday morning, SMU managed to finish its second round at the NCAA Central Regional and finds itself in 12th place with a nine over-par 585 entering Saturday's third round of action. The Ponies posted a second round six over 294, placing them 17 strokes behind first place Oklahoma State.

Heavy morning showers forced players to be called off the course at 8:42 a.m. Play resumed at 11:30 a.m., pushing back Thursday?s afternoon tee times. At 6:08 p.m., the air horns were again sounded, summoning players from the course once again. Less than one minute later, heavy rains drenched the players and spectators coming in from the course and play was delayed until 6:45 p.m. Nine teams were still on the course at the end of Friday's action and will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Senior Franklin Hatchett and junior Brock Mulder both carded 73s on day two. Hatchett, who was one stroke out of first place individually after day one, finds himself in a tie for eighth place through two days of work.

Senior Jerome Theunis and junior Nicholas Loar both shot 74, while Ryan Abbate carded a 75.

Third round action will begin at 8:12 a.m. on Saturday. SMU is looking to advance to the NCAA Championship for the second consecutive year. Last year, SMU finished 15th at the NCAA Championships in Durham, N.C.
