SMU Embarks on Canadian Basketball Tour

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's basketball team began its early start to the fall schedule on Friday - thanks to a preseason trip to Vancouver, British Columbia - and runs through October 14.
?The tour will allow us to get our freshmen some minutes so they don?t have to play their first real competition for SMU against tough teams like TCU, San Diego, Texas Tech, Baylor or the like," said SMU Head Coach Mike Dement. "They get to get their feet wet in games and we got 10 extra practices. The tour will allow us to try different lineups, experiment with our bigger group, and do some things that we normally wouldn?t get to do.?
SMU will play three games during the trip, which coincides with the school's fall break. The Mustangs will battle Simon Fraser, the Vancouver All-Stars and the University of British Columbia. A complete recap of the tour will be posted next week.
The Dallas-based exhibition season tips off Nov. 8, when SMU hosts InterHoops from Lithuania.
