SMU Travels To San Diego

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs hit the road for the second time this season as they travel to scenic San Diego to take on the USD Toreros in a rematch of last season?s overtime thriller.
SMU has won two straight in the series including an exciting 88-82 SMU win on Jan. 2, 2003 which saw the Mustangs rally from 18 points down to grab the victory. The comeback was the second-largest rally in Mustang history.
SMU (1-0) and San Diego (0-4) have met four times on the hardwood with the Ponies holding a 3-1 series edge. SMU is 3-0 against USD in Dallas, but did lose on its lone trip to San Diego, 75-68, back in 1991-92.
SMU will be looking to start the season 2-0 for the fourth time in five seasons, but will be without the services of sophomores Bryan and Ryan Hopkins as the tandem deals with a family emergency.
Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. CST at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego.
