SMU Downs Inter Hoops, 89-83

Sophomore Bryan Hopkins poured in 19 points and junior Patrick Simpson added 17 as the SMU men's basketball team defeated Inter Hoops from Lithuania 89-83 Saturday night at Moody Coliseum.
Inter Hoops' Rolandas Skaisgirys hit a three-pointer with nine seconds in regulation to send the game to overtime, where the Ponies outscored Inter Hoops 13-7 to win the ballgame.
Hopkins' 19 points came on 5-of-16 shooting, while Simpson connected on 8-of-13 for his 17 points. Sophomore Donatas Rackauskas posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards on 4-of-7 shooting. Justin Isham and Brian Miller each scored 10 points in the win for SMU.
The Mustangs return to the hardwood next Sunday, Nov. 16 when they take on EA Sports in the team's second and final exhibition game of the year. SMU opens its regular season Nov. 22 against UT-Pan American in South Padre, Texas. The Ponies' 2003-04 home opener is Dec. 1 against Texas Tech with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM.
