DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's basketball team (5-6, 1-1 WAC) finally returns to the friendly confines of Moody Coliseum after its last seven games on the road and looks to pick up its second home victory of the season with a conference tilt against Fresno State (7-5, 1-1 WAC) Thursday evening. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on KSKY-Radio (660 AM). SMU posts a 4-3 WAC home-opener record.
It's been a difficult road swing for SMU, both on an physical and emotional level. Junior forward Shonte Roberts aggravated a left shoulder injury at Rice last Saturday while senior guard Shanta Ramdhanny sustained a right knee injury early on in the Tulsa game this past Monday. Both players are listed as day-to-day. The team is also mourning the loss of teammate Sarah Davis' father, who suddenly passed away on Jan. 1.
Fresno State is 5-2 in its last seven games, including a lopsided victory over San Jose State on Monday and a two-point loss to Hawaii last Saturday. SMU holds a slim 7-5 series advantage over Fresno State, with the Mustangs looking to avenge three losses to the Bulldogs last season, including an 81-67 loss in the WAC Tournament semifinals last spring.
