King Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's basketball guard Zahra King was named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Women's Basketball Academic All-District team, announced by the organization on Tuesday.

King earned the honor for her performance on the court and in the classroom last season.

To be eligible to receive the distinction, the student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches.

The sophomore had a career year playing in all 30 games with 29 starts. She averaged a team-high 14.4 points per game while shooting 43.1% from the floor and making 45 three-pointers during the season.

She recorded 19 games scoring double figures and scored over 20 points in six games, including five during ACC play. In conference games, King averaged 15.6 points per game while shooting 38.3% from the floor, 36.4% from three-point range and totaled 31 steals.

King scored a career high 40 points in SMU's road victory over Pitt, becoming the third-ever Mustang to score 40 points in a game in program history.  She went 7-of-12 from three-point range, tied for the second most three pointers made in a single game in school history, en route to her record point total.

The Brooklyn, New York, native has a cumulative GPA of 3.51 and is pursuing a degree in finance.
