DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's basketball program will spend Thanksgiving week in Frisco, Texas, playing St. Mary's and Memphis as part of the Hoopfest Basketball Women's Challenge at the Comerica Center.

The Mustangs will kick off the challenge facing Saint Mary's on Nov. 23, then play Memphis on Nov. 25. Times for both games will be announced at a later date.

The Hoopfest Basketball Women's Challenge will be held Nov. 22-25 and will feature eight teams, with each team playing two games. The list of teams participating in the challenge includes Arkansas State, Memphis, North Texas, Old Dominion, Stephen F. Austin, SMU, St. Mary's and Tulsa.

SMU enters year two under Head Coach Adia Barnes, who brought in an exciting group of portal additions ahead of the 2026-27 season, including Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Kinsea Grimes (Coastal Carolina), CAA Defensive Player of the Year Grace Ezebilo (Charleston), Pitt transfer Theresa Hagans Jr., who earned 2025-26 ACC All-Freshman Team honors, and French standout forward Adja Kane.

The Mustangs also welcomed back star Zahra King, who delivered one of the most dominant performances in all of college basketball last season with a remarkable 40-point performance in a win over Pitt.
