Ponies Move To 22nd At NCAA Championship

The SMU men's swimming & diving team moved to 22nd place after day two of the 2004 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championship taking place at the Goodwill Games Aquatics Complex in New York City. Through two days of action, the Mustangs have totaled 22 points. Auburn is leading the championship with 435 points. Stanford and Texas trail the Tigers with 248.5 and 246 points, respectively.
The Mustangs gained All-American honors in the 200 meter medley relay Friday in New York. The team of Eric Hadley, Per Nylin, Camilo Becerra and Justin Stephenson finished tied for 15th with a time of 1:39.11. The championship is being competed in short course meters. SMU qualified for the finals heat after recording a time of 1:38.89 during the morning session. Auburn won the event with a NCAA and U.S. Open record time of 1:34.25.
The championship meet concludes Saturday with day three action. Preliminary heats get underway at 11:00 a.m. with final races commencing at 6:00 p.m. central time.
