College Station, Texas - The SMU women's soccer team posted its first shutout of a conference opponent this season with a 2-0 blanking over Tulane Sunday afternoon in College Station, Texas. With the win, SMU improves to 10-4-1 overall (4-1 C-USA) while Tulane falls to 1-8 overall (1-5 C-USA).
SMU got both of its goals in the first half, beginning with a give-and-go goal by freshman Kirsten Moran at the 17:26 mark. Junior Olivia O'Rear recorded her first goal of the season at the 20:57 mark on a breakaway goal. Sophomore Kimber Bailey earned two assists on the day. Jena Lind also posted her team-leading fifth assist on the O'Rear goal as well.
SMU goalkeeper Ashley Gunter continued her stellar play, earning her second shutout of the season. The Lancaster, Pa., native totaled four saves in the team's win. SMU outshot the Green Wave, 9-6.
The Mustangs continue their road swing next weekend with a game at Marshall on Friday evening and at East Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
