Final Stats
DALLAS - Four SMU players scored in double figures as the Mustangs won their final tuneup in a 74-51 exhibition win over Arkansas Tech at Moody Coliseum on Monday. Derrick Roberts led the Mustangs in scoring for the second consecutive game, tallying 19 points. He also had a game-high five steals to go along with three assists. The Ponies also had double figure nights from Brian Epps with 15, Brian Morris with 12, and Devon Pearson added 10. Dez Willingham had seven assists as SMU totaled 18 helpers on 28 field goals.
The Ponies shot 58-percent from the field in the second half, hitting 14 of 24 shots, to finish at 50-percent for the game. Epps had the hot hand, connecting on five of his seven shots, including two-of-four from three-point range. The Mustangs were also solid at the line, going 15-for-22. The Mustangs solid shooting was partially because of easy baskets in transition, outscoring Arkansas Tech 18-4 in fast break points.
