Women's Swimming Inks Three Signees

DALLAS (SMU) - Devon Callaghan (Louisville, Ky.), Justine Clark (Solihull, England) and Jaime Williamson (Cypress, Tx) have signed national letters-of-intent to attend SMU and will begin training with the women's swimming team in fall 2006, as announced by SMU head coach Steve Collins.
Callaghan currently attends Sacred Heart High School in Louisville, Ky. While at Sacred Heart she has garnered many state and national honors. Callaghan was a member of the Kentucky state record holding 200 medley and 400 free relay teams as well as collecting three individual high school state titles. She was named to the all-state first-team from 2003-2005 and was named KYHSAA most valuable female swimmer in 2005. On the national level, Callaghan has been a junior national qualifier and finalist, a senior national qualifier and a 2008 Olympic Trial Qualifier.
Clark is the team captain for St. Martins School in Solihull, England. She was an English schools champion in the 100 fly at both the intermediate and senior levels and represented English schools against Whales, Scotland and Ireland in 2004. At that event she broke the championships record in the 100 fly (62.05). In 2004, Clark finished fifth at the Olympic trials in the 100 fly (61.42), set a new record for her age group (14-15 yrs. 62.13) at the ASA Youth Championships and took seventh (28.13) in the 50 fly at the European Junior Championships. At the 2005 ASA Youth Championships Clark set another age group record (15-18 yrs. 60.96) and also took second place in the Commonwealth Senior Trials. Most recently she was named the 2005 Warwickshire Young Sportswoman of the Year.
Williamson, a senior at Cypress Creek High School, was a 2004 and 2008 U.S. Olympic Trial Qualifier in the 200 breaststroke and has been a senior national qualifier in the 100 and 200 breast and 400 IM. Williamson qualified for the U.S. Open in the 200 and 400 IM, 100 and 200 breast and in the 200 fly. She has been named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and is a National Charity League yellow rose member.
"I am very excited about our latest additions to the program. All three of these swimmers have great potential and will fit into our goal of being a top-five team at the NCAA's," Collins said. "Devon Callaghan is a Nationally ranked breaststrorker and has great versatility. She has posted excellent times in the 100 Fly and 200 IM as well as the 100 Breast which is her speciality. Justine Clark will fill a need in the butterfly area and will bring international experience to the team. Justine is a member of Great Britian's European Short Course Team and is the top sprint butterflyer in England. She has an excellent chance to earn a spot on England's Commonwelath Team this Spring. Jaime Williamson is one of the top 200 breaststroke swimmers in the country who will be able to make a great contribution in the IM as well. Jaime was one of the top recruits in Texas and we are excited to have her coming to SMU."
