DALLAS (AP) - Freshman Brian Morris scored 16 points and took down 11 rebounds for SMU, which beat Long Island 74-62 on Tuesday night.
Morris was 3-of-6 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. It was just the 10th time in SMU history a player was perfect with at least 10 free throw attempts. Devon Pearson added 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, seven offensive, for his second double-double of the season. Dez Willingham also scored a career-high tying 14 with four assists, and Derrick Roberts had 11 points for the Mustangs (2-2).
Brian Epps also tallied 11 points as the Mustangs had five double-digit scorers for the second time in three home games.
James Williams scored 19 points to lead Long Island (0-3). Randy Jones and Kellen Allen had 12 points apiece.
