DALLAS, Texas - Three Mustangs scored in double figures as SMU defeated the Ouachita Baptist Tigers 73-51 in exhibition play at Moody Coliseum on Saturday evening. Derrick Roberts led all player with 20 points, Devon Pearson recorded 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, and Dez Willingham added 14 points in the victory.
The Ponies shot 50.9 percent for the game led by Willingham's 5-for-7 performance. He was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. The Mustangs outrebounded the Tigers 43-23 and had 13 offensive boards for 18 second chance points.
Ike Ofoegbu just missed a second SMU double-double with eight points and nine boards. Five other Ponies added to the scoring column; Brian Epps had five points, Paulius Ritter and Jon Killen added three points, with Brian Morris and Ryan Hopkins tallying a pair each. Killen led all players with seven assists.
The Mustangs next exhibition is against Arkansas Tech at moody Coliseum on Monday November 14 at 7:00 p.m. The regular season opens at Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday Nov. 20 at 2:00 p.m. All regular season games are on KAAM 770 AM.
