DENTON, Texas (SMU) - The SMU women's basketball team fell to the North Texas Mean Green on Saturday 84-69 at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas. Senior Sarah Davis led all scorers with 20 points and also collected seven rebounds and two blocks for the Mustangs (3-4) in the loss.
Janielle Dodds was also strong for the Ponies, recording a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Dodds was 7-for-8 from the free throw line. Juli Colli chipped in with nine points, while Kendall Shead and Sharee Shepherd netted six apiece. Shead led SMU with four assists.
Erika Bobo led four North Texas players in double figures with 15. Amber Jackson tallied 14 for the Mean Green, while Main Williams and Erica Howard each totaled 13.
The Ponies led 37-35 at the half, but were plagued by turnovers all afternoon long and the Mean Green took advantage of SMU's sloppy play in the second half to pull away for the victory.
The Mustangs return to action on Dec. 13 when they travel to Washington D.C. to face George Washington at 6 p.m. CT.
