SAN MARCOS, Texas (SMU) - The women's tennis team notched one more victory this weekend as they defeated Texas State, 6-1. The Mustangs improved to 3-1 on the season after winning three matches on the road this weekend. Yesterday SMU downed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 6-0, and Texas-San Antonio, 4-0.
In singles action, Brooke Rambally played at the No. 5 spot and did not let her opponent, Sumarie Muller, score any points as she shut Muller out, 6-0, 6-0. The Mustangs had strong performances from all singles spots as the Mustangs finished winning all but one set.
The doubles point was taken by the Mustangs as the Rambally sister duo, Brooke and Halley, overcame their opponents at the No. 3 spot and Svetlana Kouzmenko and Natalia Buben also downed the duo of Leja Sirola and Christina Amo.
The Mustangs will return home next weekend, Feb. 4, against Arizona at 2 p.m. After hosting Arizona, the Ponies will stay on home turf for three more matches before hitting the road again.
