ANN ARBOR, Mich. (SMU) - After holding a share of the lead following the opening round, inclement weather hampered the SMU women's golf team at the Wolverine Invitational at the par-71, 6,098-yard U-M Golf Course, as SMU placed sixth. SMU finished with a total of 929 for three rounds, carding rounds of 305, 310 and 314.
"We had a small setback this weekend," said head coach Todd Selders. "But we'll regroup and play better next time. It's never fun when you play in cold rain and wind."
Kate Ackerson was the top-finishing Mustang, tying for 11th at 77-76-74-227. Jennifer Ackerson was three shots back of her younger sister, tying for 20th at 73-77-80-230. Lacey Jones tied for 25th at 75-77-79-231. Sarah Dodson was next up at 80-80-83-243, tying for 46th. Kristina Rothengatter shot 89-80-81-250 to round out the SMU team in a 57th-place tie, and playing as an individual, Ashley Deatherage carded an 83-80-79-242 to tie for 43rd.
