Knoxville, Tenn. (SMU) - SMU junior Lacey Jones finished second at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship at the Cherokee Country Club after carding a final-round 76 to finish at 3-over 216 (67-73-76). Jones, who entered the final round with a three-shot lead, was passed by Alabama's Jenny Suh, who fired a final-round 70 to claim medalist honors at 1-over.

Jennifer Ackerson closed with a great final two rounds tie for ninth at 7-over 220 (75-73-72), while sister Kate's final-round 78 saw her fall to a 28th-place tie at 14-over 227 despite a stellar 70 in round two (79-70-78-227). Ashley Deatherage's 35-over 83-83-82-248 placed her 76th, while Sarah Dodson took 80th with a 39-over 83-88-81-252.

As a team, SMU finished ninth in the loaded 15-team field posting rounds of 304, 299 and 307 to score 910. SMU was able to show well despite playing without senior Laura Cross, who is sidelined after shoulder surgery. Coach Todd Selders said Cross may redshirt, but will be reevaluated in the spring.
