The Mustangs were unable to overcome Tulane today as they fell 3-1 (30-21, 30-27, 18-30, 30-27). SMU is now 13-12 on the season and 4-7 in Conference USA play while Tulane advances to 11-8 on the season and 7-3 in conference.

Three Mustangs made double-double performances. Caitlin Rainbird had 14 kills and 12 digs while Rachel Giubilato made 18 kills and 13 digs along with two blocks. Madison Hill made 24 assists and 12 digs and Natalie Peters notched nine kills, three aces and five blocks. Candice Davis had 20 digs while Kara Cornelius posted three kills and four blocks. Kendra Kahanek accounted for seven kills and three blocks as Stefanie Kons combined for 23 assists and three digs. Jenny Reyes made one service ace and three digs for the Mustangs.

Tulane took the early edge in game one, forcing the Mustang to battle. The Green Wave responded to everything the Mustangs threw at them. SMU was not able to slow them down as they took the, 30-21, win.

Tulane jumped out to a 5-0 start in game two as the Mustangs could never seem to get their momentum going. SMU battled back but it was not enough to topple the Green Wave as they fell, 30-27.

The Mustangs came out with a spark in game three as there were only two early ties before the Mustangs sailed to the win. After four unanswered points from the Mustangs, Tulane posted five points of their own but SMU responded with three different runs of unanswered points to confirm the, 30-18, win.

There were nine ties in game four with three of them coming early in the game. The teams battled through the first few points with Tulane staying on the upper side till the Mustangs scratched back for a tie at 16-16. There were five more ties after that and a short run by Tulane was enough to get over the Mustangs as Tulane took the final game, 30-27.

The Mustangs will hit to the road again to take on Rice, Houston and Tulane.
