JIM STILLSON SELECTED AS 2007 PAN AMERICAN GAMES TEAM LEADER

INDIANAPOLIS (USA Diving/SMU) - Jim Stillson, head SMU diving coach, has been selected to serve as team leader for the USA Diving team at the 2007 Pan American Games, pending final approval by the USOC Board of Directors.
The Pan American Games will be held July 14-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The diving portion of the Games is set for July 25-28.
"I'm honored to have been selected to lead the U.S. team at the Pan American Games," Stillson said. "This will be an important competition for the USA as we continue preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games."
Stillson, in his 24th season as diving coach at SMU, is a member of USA Diving's Committee for Competitive Excellence and is the chair of the international subcommittee. Stillson continues to produce some of American's most talented divers. SMU's diving accomplishments include six Olympians, one world champion, a 1992 silver medalist, 10 U.S. National champions, and four NCAA champions in seven different events. Since 1970, Stillson has guided 42 student-athlete divers to All-American honors, included three NCAA Diver of the Year award winners. A 16-time conference coach of the year, Stillson was named the 1991 and 1995 NCAA Women's Diving Coach of the Year, and earned NCAA Men's Diving Coach of the Year honors in 1989.
