The SMU women's basketball team dropped its second straight game with an 83-71 loss at TCU Friday evening in Fort Worth. It was the first time this season SMU has allowed 80 or more opponent points. SMU falls to 4-2 on the season while TCU improves to 3-3 on the season.

In the first half, the Mustangs built up a nine-point lead (35-26) at the 5:56 mark, going on a 12-0 run. SMU capitalized on late TCU turnovers and held a five-point lead at intermission (43-38). The Mustangs shot 48% from the field while the Lady Frogs connected on 44% of their shots. SMU outrebounded TCU, 20-16, during the first 20 minutes of play. Janielle Dodds nearly collected a double-double in the first half with 11 points and nine boards.

In the second half, early turnovers plagued SMU as TCU scored two uncontested baskets, cutting the lead to 45-42 at the 16:28 mark. TCU retook the lead, 46-45, at the 13:46 mark and scored again to build a slim three-point lead (48-45), 20 seconds later. The Lady Frogs went on a 12-0 run in that span. TCU would continue to score on high-percentage shots, building up a nine-point lead (62-53). SMU struggled to find the hot shooting hand and break TCU's smothering defense. But TCU got its lead up to 10 points (73-63) with less than four minutes left in the game.

SMU's leading scorer was freshman Alice Severin with 16 points. Dodds turned in her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Delisha Wills added 13 points and six boards. Top Lady Frog scorer was Ashley Davis with 22 points while Lorie Butler-Rayford posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mustangs return home for a contest against UTA Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
