DALLAS – SMU is excited to celebrate the 50th season of women's basketball on the Hilltop throughout the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.

SMU women's basketball played its first season as a varsity team in 1976-77. Since then, the program has amassed over 700 victories, 23 winning seasons, five conference championships, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, 57 All-Conference selections, five All-Americans and 25 1,000+ point scorers. 50 years of dedication, strength, passion and a continued pursuit of excellence have defined the SMU women's basketball legacy.

A logo has been created to commemorate the 50th year of the program, along with a dedicated webpage where all content surrounding the 50th season of SMU women's basketball will be highlighted. Videos and photos from over the years will be shown throughout the season as a tribute to those who have helped our program get where it is today.

SMU will also place special emphasis on recognizing and thanking our Mustang Nation for its continued support over the last five decades. Fans are encouraged to use #SMUWBB50 on social media to share past memories and showcase new ones created this season. Fans can also submit memories through the online form on the SMU WBB 50 years webpage.

SMU Athletics and the Mustang Club are proud to introduce the Steal Club in support of SMU Women's Basketball as the program enters an exciting new chapter under Head Coach Adia Barnes. By pledging $10 for each steal the team makes this season, you'll directly support their defensive intensity and overall success on the court.

Members pledge per steal and can cap their giving at 25 steals ($250), 50 steals ($500), or 100 steals ($1,000). Members who pledge for all steals and submit the closest estimate to the total number of steals made during the 2025-26 season will be entered to win exclusive SMU Women's Basketball memorabilia. All Steal Club members will receive an exclusive club item and an invitation to a member-only event.
