Mustangs Remain Solid On Day Two Of European Championships

HELSINKI, Finland (SMU) - Members of the SMU women's swimming and diving team powered through day two of the European Championships making it to the finals in several events.
Former Mustang, Martina Moravcova started the day off with a good morning swim qualifying for the semi-finals in the 50 fly with a time of 26.95. She continued her consistency has she posted another solid performance in the semi-finals with a time of 26.52 and a third place finish which allowed her to advance to the finals. About an hour later, Moravcova swam for fifth place in the finals with a great personal time of 26.31.
Petra Klosova continued the solid performances for the Mustangs as she had a strong time of 1:03.076 in the 100 IM to qualify for the semi's. She kicked it up a notch in the semifinals posting a time of 1:02.39 in eight place, advancing her to the final which will be swam tomorrow night.
The Mustangs had two representatives in the 800 free as former Mustang Flavia Rigamonti held a solid pace and posted a time of 8:28.10 for seventh place in the final heat. Due to the event being a timed final event, Rigamonti had a final placing of eighth. Anja Carman also swam, swimming in the second fastest heat of the 800 free. She also posted a solid swim, placing 13th with a time of 8:42.71.
Tamara Sambrailo jumped out to a good start in the 200 breast, swimming a time of 2:33.22 for 23rd place.
