NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Quincy Davis scored a season-high 25 points and Tulane withstood a late SMU rally for a 59-56 victory Wednesday night.
Tulane never trailed in the game and led by as much as 16 in the second half. But the Mustangs forced a pair of turnovers and a pair of missed shots in the final 2:44 as Tulane scored just one point in that stretch. However, the Wave defense held SMU to just one 3-pointer and four free throws during the same stretch to hold on for the victory.
Davis was 8-of-13 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line for the Green Wave (7-12, 3-4 Conference USA). Vytas Tatarunas added 12 points.
Bryan Hopkins led SMU (10-9, 2-4) with 17 points. Derrick Roberts added 12 and Dez Willingham had 10. Devon Pearson also grabbed 11 rebounds and Bamba Fall pulled down 10.
