Mustangs Take Control in 77-55 Win Over UCF

DALLAS (AP) - Bryan Hopkins scored 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting to lead SMU past Central Florida 77-55 Saturday night.
Hopkins made three of four 3-pointers and six of seven free throws and had a team-high three steals for the Mustangs (12-12, 4-7 Conference USA).
Devon Pearson had 17 points and 10 rebounds for SMU, which led 36-22 at halftime and extended the lead by shooting 60 percent in the second half. It was Pearson's seventh double-double of the season.
The Mustangs had solid play from their big men; getting eight points, two assists, and two blocks from Bamba Fall; five points, five boards, four assists (career high), and two blocks from Donatas Rackauskas; and seven rebounds (ties career high), two blocks, and a steal from Ike Ofoegbu. The two blocks by Fall gave him 45 on the season, setting the SMU freshman record previously held by Ira Terrell (43 in 1972-73).
Josh Peppers led UCF (10-13, 4-6) with 14 points off the bench. Anthony Williams had nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
