Parrish, Fla. (SMU) - SMU sophomore Lacey Jones fired a final-round 2-under 70 to win the Central District Invitational at the 6,099-yard, par-72 River Wilderness Golf Club on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Jones, an Idabel, Okla., native, entered the final 18 one shot back of the lead, but her sub-par final round propelled her to an easy four-stroke win.
As a team, SMU finished third at 908, one shot behind second-place Ohio State and 12 shots back of champion Baylor.
Laura Cross had a great final round and just missed a top-10 finish, taking 11th at 10-over 226 (75-79-72). Kate Ackerson tied for 36th at 18-over 234 (73-82-79). Jennifer Ackerson was one shot back of her younger sister at 19-over 235 (78-78-79) and tied for 44th. Kristina Rothengatter rounded out the SMU group, tying for 51st at 21-over 237 (78-81-78).
