COLLEGE STATION (SMU)- The SMU women's golf team moved up to third place following the second round of the 13th-annual Texas A&M "Mo"Morial Invitational at the par-72, 6,307-yard Traditions Golf Club. As a team, SMU shot 309 on Saturday, eight strokes better than its first-round effort, to stand at 50-over 626. Arkansas leads the 18-team event at 32-over 608.
Kristina Rothengatter remains tied for second at 2-over 146 (74-72). She is two shots back of leader Ashley Knoll of Texas A&M. Lacey Jones is tied for 30th at 16-over 81-79-160, while Laura Cross is tied for 37th at 17-over 83-78-161. Sisters Kate (79-83-162) and Jennifer Ackerson (86-80-166) are tied for 45th and 61st, respectively. SMU's Ashley Deatherage, playing as an individual, bettered her first-round effort by 10 shots and is tied for 52nd at 20-over 87-77-164.
The final 18 holes are set for Sunday.
