FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (SMU) - Two SMU swimmers posted great performances on the second day of the 2006 Spring Championships in Washington. The Mustangs did not have anyone competing in events yesterday, but the swimmers came out strong today.

SMU had had three swimmers in the 100 meter freestyle event. In the prelims this morning, Candace Blackman swam a time of 57.12 and touched in at 5th place while Jennifer Blackman finished 15th with a time of 57.80. Roxane Akradi placed 43rd with a time of 59.09.

The top 24 swimmers advanced to finals and were split into A, B and C finals. Swimming in the A-Final, C. Blackman finished a few strokes behind the leader as she grabbed 3rd place with a time of 56.64 as J. Blackman led the B-Final with a 1st-place finish and time of 56.98.

Tomorrow SMU will have swimmers in the 200 meter freestyle and the Mustangs are expected to take 1st-place in the 800 meter freestyle relay. In the 200 free, C. Blackman is seeded 5th, Celina Lemmen at 7th and Katie Roberts at 10th.
