COLLEGE STATION (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team sits in 12th place following the first round of the NCAA Central Regional at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club. SMU fired an opening round 316 and is just seven strokes out of eighth place. The top eight teams from the Regional will advance to the championships finals, May 23-26 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.

SMU is led by Jennifer Ackerson, who is tied for 29th at 5-over 77. Laura Cross and Kate Ackerson are tied for 45th at 7-over 79. Rounding out the SMU group are Lacey Jones (81, T-62nd) and Kristina Rothengatter (83, T-78).
