LUBBOCK, Texas (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team and sophomore Kate Ackerson are tied for first following two rounds at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational at the par 72 Rawls Course.
Playing without standout Laura Cross, the SMU women carded rounds of 292 and 290 to tie San Francisco at 582. SMU leads No. 42 TCU, No. 64 Oklahoma, No. 65 Florida International, No. 86 Mississippi, No. 89 Arkansas-Little Rock and No. 90 UTEP among others.
Leading the way for the Mustangs are the Ackerson sisters, Kate and Jennifer, who are tied for first and fourth, respectively. Kate is at 4-under 140, while Jennifer is 1-under at 143. Lacey Jones rebounded from an opening-round to shoot 71 over the second 18 and is tied for 16th at 4-over 148. Sarah Dodson, playing in her first varsity tournament is at 7-over 151 and is tied for 28th. Ashley Deatherage rounds out SMU's squad with a 15-over 159 to tie for 66th. SMU's Kristina Rothengatter is also competing in the event as an individual and is tied for 12th at 76-71-147.
