SMU Individual Notes

QB-Justin Willis had four TD passes which ties for the third most in a game in SMU history; he has nine in the last two games which is an SMU record for TD passes in consecutive games; he also became the first SMU QB with 10+ TD passes in a season since Josh McCown had 10 TD passes in 1999

WR-Emmanuel Sanders had a TD catch, his second of the season

TE-Ryan Kennedy had three TD receptions (four on season/six for career); became the eighth player in SMU history with three TD receptions in a game and the first since Chris Cunningham against Rice in 2001

LB-Reggie Carrington had one sack for his third of the season and career; had two sacks last week against Sam Houston State

RB-James Mapps had 132 rush yards for his first career 100-yard rushing game; he also had his first career rushing TD

WR-Bobby Chase had a 75-yard TD catch for his first TD of the season and fifth of his career; his 122 yards was a career best and the third 100-yard receiving game of his career; he now has 1339 career receiving yards to move into 13th at SMU by passing Kevin Thornal (1247) and Ken Fleming (1311) with James Whitmore next at 12th with 1381 yards

KOR-Jessie Henderson had 51 kickoff return yards to move into sixth in career kickoff return yards at SMU with 834, passing Gary Hammond (803) and Michael Artmore (818); next is Jerry LeVias in fifth with 1,080 yards

WR-Zach Sledge had the 75 yard TD pass to Bobby Chase on his first career passing attempt; his fumble recovery and TD were also career firsts

DT-Randy Denman had one sack for his first of the season and the second of his career

DE-Justin Rogers three sacks (three season/13 career) is tied for the second most in a game (record is four by Luke Johnson against UTEP in 1999); his forced fumble was his first of the season and fourth of his career

DT-Brandon Bonds had his second fumble recovery of the season, also the second of his career

SS-Joe Sturdivant's blocked PAT was the first of his career; his fumble recovery was his first of the season and third of his career; he also had the second forced fumble of his career

DB-Bryan McCann had his first career interception and his first fumble recovery

K-Thomas Morstead's 50-yard FG was the first 50+ yard FG for SMU since Roy Rios hit from 52 yards against Wyoming in 1997; he was 2-2 on FGs and is now 4-5 on the season; he was 5-5 on PATs and is 11-12 on the season

K-Ryan Wolcott scored the first two points of his career with a PATs

SMU Team Notes

The five TD passes for SMU (four by Willis, one by Sledge) in a game is tied for second-most in SMU history

55 points is the most by SMU in a game since a 58-16 win against Cal State Northridge in 1999 and the most for SMU at Ford Stadium

The Mustangs have scored 100 points combined in consecutive games for the first time since 1928 when SMU had a 53-13 win against Rice and a 60-7 victory over Trinity

SMU is 2-2 on the season, which is the best record for the Mustangs since a 2-2 start to the 1996 season

First time SMU has scored 40+ points in consecutive games sine 1982 (W 47-9 vs. Texas A&M, W 41-14 at Rice)

SMU has won four consecutive home games for the first time since the final three games of the 1999 season (Cotton Bwol) and the home opener of the 2000 season (Ford Stadium)

The 75 yard TD pass from Zach Sledge to Bobby Chase is tied for the 15th longest pass play in SMU history and was the first time a non-QB has thrown a TD pass since Chris Foster hit Jerad Romo for a TD in the San Jose State game in 2004

Ryan Kennedy's three TD catches marked the first multi-TD reception game for an SMU receiver since Chris Foster had two TD catches against San Jose State in 2004.
